All About Emily DickisonAs a child, Emily always loved school, but she also enjoyed simple pleasures, such as parties, social and church activities. But, Emily was an extremely shy child, and she never grew out of her childhood shyness. Emily grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts, with her mother, her father, and her sister Lavinia. Her father was a successful lawyer and Emily and her sister, nicknamed Vinnie were extremely close. Emily began writing poetry in her teens and always kept a dictionary besides her. Emily grew up to attended Amherst Academy, and she later founded Amherst College, with help from her grandfather. Emily taught herself to write poetry and always wrote in a four stanza poem, in an iambic meter. Her writing was described as light and witty and only six of her poems were published while she was alive. She sadly died at the age of 55. InterpertationIn the begining of Emily's poem, I believe she is describing a flower. An Arbutus plant with small pink and white blossoms. In the first stanza she describes the flower and how they bloom in spring. Then in the second stanza she explains how this beautiful flower can be found everywhere. I think Emily is trying to say that no matter its appearance or where it is, beauty can and is found everywhere in everyone. "Beauty is not caused. It is" ~ Emily Dickison My poem INSPIRED by Emily Dickison
VIETNAMESE MORNING Before war starts In early morning The land is breath taking. The low, blazing, ruby sun Melts the night-shadow pools Creating an ethereal appearance. Each miniature house and tree Sprouts its, long, thin shadow Stretching long on dewy ground. The countryside is panoramic maze, Jungle, hamlets, hills and waterways, Bomb-craters, paddies, broken-backed bridges. Rice fields glow sky-sheens, Flat, calm, mirrored lakes Reflect the morning peace. The patchwork quilted earth, Slashed by snaking tree-lines, Slumbers in dawn's blue light. Sharp, rugged mountain peaks Sleep in a soft rolling blanket Of clinging, slippery, misty fog. Effortlessly, languidly, it flows Shyly spreading wispy tentacles out To embrace the earth with velvet arms. By : Curt Bennett In the poem "Vietnamese Morning," written by Curt Bennett, I believe the author is trying to describe "the calm before the storm", in Vietnam. Meaning, they are describing the beauty that was once there, before it was disrupted by the dangers and hardships of war. They describe Vietnam as "breath-taking", a "panoramic maze" and "dawn's blue light,". And as the poem continues it begins to fade into the war coming. The theme starts off as telling of the beauty and tranquility, and being to turn to fear of the war and troops coming.
Dylan O'brienYou might know him as Thomas from "The Maze Runner",
One of my most favorite books. But, meeting him would be so much funner, Maybe for him to sign my notebook. He stars as Stiles Stilinski on Teen Wolf, Their are just about done with season 5. His best friend Scott turns into a werewolf, But their friendship continues to thrive. Dylan was born in New York, And he played Stuart in the internship. But, do not think that he is a dork, Him and Tyler Posey have an ongoing friendship Dylan O'brien will forever be my most favorite actor, He just has that one extremely special factor. Spring Come BackToday I thought I'd wake up to a summer's day
Although, the weather reports showed signs of the cold You'd think it was almost January, not May I thought I knew what the future would hold But, I couldn't have been more wrong I woke up to see frost on the ground I knew it was going to be a day, that would be cold and long All day everyone was a little bit downed Later that day I sat down and thought About all the day coming I wish it would spot the flowers were blooming and the birds would be humming Spring will come back, I hope soon Maybe before the bell of noon |
