Franks verses Van DaansThe Frank family and the Van Daans family are now stuck livin gin the same small house because of the Jewish discrimination because of the war. The Frank family is trying to handle it well. Mr. Frank is trying to help keep Anne positive and keep her spirit alive. He is doing a good job because with each day Anne continue to prevail, laugh and record her day in her diary. The Van Daans on the other hand are somewhat miresable. There akward son has no guidance or help from his parents and is thrilled when Mr. Frank offers him some manly guidance. His mother cares about only the richer things she cannot seem to have, she feels that her husband does nothing for her son while she does the same and she is extremely short tempered. Mr. Van Daan is also quite similar. He does not do anything to help his son, so that he can grow up into the best version of himself. Because of each of their different personalities i believe that the Franks and Peter will prevail through this situation, and triumph over this horrible situation. "Usually when I come up here I try to bring you some bit of good news. Whats the use of telling you bad news when there is nothing you can do about it?"This quote was said ot the Van Daans and the Franks. This shielded them from the reality that was happening in the outside world aorund them. They were obviously all aware of the discrimination and taking away of the Jewish people, because they went into hiding to save themselves. But, I do not think they knew how many people were being taken to these death camps and being killed on the daily. I believe that they were not being told this because they did not want to cause any more fear or stress then they were already experiencing.

In Act One : Scene One and Two of The Diary of Anne Frank : Play Version we begin with Meip and Mr. Frank looking at the rements of Mr. Franks belongs. He is playing to get rid of most of his belongings because he wants to delete his previous life. He misses Anne dearly and wants to almost forget her memory, while remembering her exsistance and personality. We then see the Franks and Van Danns going into hiding above an office building. We quickly learn that Anne is a smart, imaginative, high spirited girl, who obides by her parents wishes. Even though she is going through somthing so difficult, she is still managing to stay strong. Her fath was the one who gave her the diary, so she coud contain to express herself in a way other than speaking. "I expect I should be describing what it feels like to go into hiding. But I really don't know yet myself........ It's the silence in the night that frightens me most. Every time I hear a creak in the house.....I'm sure they are coming for us."This quote stuck out to me because it is the first thing Anne writes down in her diary. She begins to realize her, how severe thee conditions are. Her whole life is about to be turned upsidown and she is going to make the best of the changes. But, she is still afraid. To be afraid is normal, and I am suprised at how well such a small girl is handling a big situation. If I were in her shoes I guarentee I would not be ble to handle it with the same level matuarity she is.
